ATHOOCH DIAMOND GIRLS - ONE

ADG-ONE

About us

History Formation

In April 2015, the organization was formally established in Kenya as the Athooch Community Women Group. This marks the beginning of a collective effort by women in the Athooch community to come together and address issues affecting their community. The group was initially formed to create a platform for women to support one another and work towards common goals related to community development and empowerment.

In 2016, the organization adopted its official name, Athooch Diamond Girl  (ADG-ONE). This new designation was intended to better reflect the group's focus on empowering girls/Boys and young women within the community. The name symbolizes strength, resilience, and the valuable potential of the girls/Boys and women the organization aims to support. It also helped to raise awareness and distinguish the organization’s specific mission and activities.

The primary aim of Athooch Diamond Girl is to promote cultural practices that uphold the dignity and rights of girls and boys. The organization seeks to preserve positive cultural traditions while also encouraging modern values that support education and personal development. Through this, they aim to foster a sense of pride and identity among the youth and the wider community.

Furthermore, Athooch Diamond Girl is dedicated to supporting the education of children, particularly those in urban and rural refugee settings in Kenya. The organization strives to create opportunities for both girls and boys to access quality education, recognizing that education is essential for their future success and community development. By addressing these issues, the group hopes to empower the youth and promote sustainable growth within their community.
